Patching, Reading, and Compliance

My little girl loves to be read to. She doesn't know how to read yet, but she is working on it. One thing that she tells me all the time is that the letters are "so tiny" or "so fluffy". It breaks my heart that she is having a hard time learning to read because of her vision issues. I hope with her glasses she is able to work through it. In the meantime we continue to read to her often. I also think that books and being read to is a good patching activity because she needs to focus on the pictures and the letters. At least, I'd like to think so. They are working on her reading skills at pre-K.

So, lately I've noticed if we go straight home after pre-K she immediately wants to take her patch off and starts in on complaining about it. But, if she is kept busy she forgets she is wearing the patch and it buys me time before the whining commences. One place we go to often is the library. Belle loves the library. It is one of our favorite places to go because it is FREE and it is full of books.

On gloomy rainy days like today, the library was absolutely the perfect place to go.
